Not too far from where I live is the famous Cheddar Gorge, where that cheese originated a long time ago. With its impressive walls flanked by herds of wild goats and megalithic history, it is well worth visiting if you are in the area. However, there are other less well-known geologic formations that are equally worth visiting, too, such as Burrington Combe, where the famous hymn “Rock of Ages” was alleged to have been written by the local curate Augustus Toplady while sheltering from a storm.
